Lompoc had many murals around the city depicting the history, Lompoc has really changed from when we lived here in the late 70's mid 80's. We both thought it had become a very nice community than before.

After a great lunch and desert we decided to take a side trip to a place we used to Live Lompoc California and the first thing we had to take pictures of was the flower fileds that Lompoc is so famous for. Marsha just loves the colors of the flowers and she had to roll down her window to smell them.

Marsha wanted to get some Aebleskiver in Solvang California so we headed up the coast on the 26th of July. We had a great Santa Maria style BBQ Tri Tip for lunch in Slovang. It was nice to walk around the little quaint village and enjoy some old traditions.

The first week in Califiornia we stayed at Davids dads house in Seal Beach, was a nice relaxing week. David helped his dad get some little things accomplished and then one night went to dinner with Davids Sister and her boy friend Terry. The picture below is from left to right. Davids dad, Roxanne, Terry and David. The week went by quick and before you knew it we headed up the California coast.

After spending a nice weekend with JD and Robin we headed to California on Monday the 19th of July. It is nice to be in our native land once again. The weather in the desert was a little hot as you can see by the vehicle thermometer.

I was glad the air conditioner worked very good in the van as this was really the hottest we had been in so far.

Through New Mexico to Arizona

As you can see from this photo David is trying to get back to his roots in Texas, so when you see him ask him if he feels like a real Texan yet.

Coming into Arizona right at sunset made a nice photo of the state sign.

We left Texas and then drove through New Mexico and then entered Arizona, stayed with JD and Robin. David and JD played Golf while Marsha and Robin got pedicures.

Cone Texas

David was able to find many family members in Texas thanks to the Genealogy center in Floydada Texas, David was thankful that Marsha suggested he go there, even though the departure from Texas was delayed.

The final day in Texas was staying at the La Quinta in Lubbock Texas, so that David could go to Crosby County to do research on the Sitchlers who lived in Cone Texas, the only real significant part of Cone Texas was the cemetery that David's great grandparents were buried.

Paris Texas

David always wanted to have his picture taken under the Paris Eifel tower so here he is, Paris Texas was a very good place to find information on Davids grandparents and great grand parents.

We stayed in Paris Texas at the La Quinta inn, at the edge of town we shared the room with a very large spider. The town is quaint and David got to do lots of genealogy on his fathers family.

We entered Texas about 11:00 pm so the state sign was illuminated by the headlights. We arrived so late as we had so much fun exploring Miami Oklahoma.

Miami Oklahoma

This is a replica of the car David owned when Marsha and David met 30 years ago, she wanted me to take some photos of this car as it is really close in color and design to David's. Marsha helped David wet sand the car prior to the new paint job at about midnight one of their dates.

This is the famous Coleman Theater Marsha's great uncle Richard was the projectionist at the theater for years, in fact they still talk about him. We took a tour and it was really cool to see that they have almost completely restored the theater to the original design. Marsha really enjoyed seeing this theater.

This is when we crossed from MO to Oklahoma, the sign was very nice and we had to stop to get a good shot. Then we noticed that Miami Oklahoma was close by this is where Marsha's father was born so we decided to take side trip to Miami Oklahoma.

Branson MO

Then we drive back to Clinton MO to have lunch with Gary his family and Davids Mom. The food was good then we were on our way again. Once we left MO we then headed for Oklahoma.

We attended the Dixie Stampede the night before we left Branson, this was a great show and a wonderful dinner. We were required to not use any silverware and we ate with our fingers. Then we watched a wonderful wild west show, we had a great time and what a great way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Walking up and down main street in Branson, enjoy. This place reminds us of a mini Las Vegas, we will compare later this summer. There is new construction going on all over Branson, so it made the walk interesting. These are the most interesting pictures taken today.

Now we are sitting in Branson MO this morning, we passed through the town Higginsville, I guess that is where the Higgins HillBilly Bone comes from. Then we arrived in Branson after a wonderful drive through the Ozark mountains. We have a nice hotel room as you can see. Well I need to see the sights more to come later as we continue on the journey across the USA.

As we entered Missouri we saw a Jack in the Box for the first time, so we thought we would record that, there are no Jack in the Boxes on the east coast. Davids brother Gary and his grandson Justin came to the hotel as the official welcoming committee to welcome us to Blue Springs. The other picture is David with his brother Gary can you tell them apart?

Terre Haute was a nice stay as you can see by the room but on Saturday the journey contiuned onto Missouri so that meant we had to travel through Illilnois and then across the mighty Mississippi River. We then arrived at David's brothers home in Blue Springs MO.

We left Cleveland on Friday after David spent three days in learning about alternative energy in vehicles, we then headed for Indiana, to spend the night in Terre Haute, we arrived there on late afternoon and stayed in a Best Western Hotel. As we crossed the state line the signs were too close so we were not able to get a good picture, so David took one of the first rest stop in Indiana.

We arrived in Ohio and as you can see right here it was very humid, as we got closer to Cleveland the weather was much nicer.

This was in Pennsylvania, I am glad we were not going East today, as we had great traffic and made great time, this lasted for many miles.

We are entering Pennsylvania, this is the Delaware Gap region.

This the Delaware Gap, who could have thought New Jersey had such wonderful places, in North West Jersey it is really lovely to see the Delaware Gap, this is the place between Jersey and Pennsylvania

We are on the way and thought I would stop and take a photo of the Famous Hot Dog Johnnys, the best hot dogs in New Jersey, they say people line up for hours to try one. I have stopped there numerous times on return from Ohio or Michigan and the best part is the birch beer.
